CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Every college athletes wants to get paid and so do the coaches. Over this last year cases have come to light regarding college coaches taking back channels payments from sports apparel companies in order to secure the attendance of top tier high school athletes. Now more than ever every college is looking to get recognized and increase their attendance number in order to achieve revenue.
We got Appalache State finally breaking the top 25 rankings in college football but what did they really do to get their behind closed doors. Aside from coaches getting paid, the NCAA cracks down on college students athletes trying to start their own business without using their school as a marketing launch point when instead they should be focusing on the employees hired to take care of these students and help them succeed and not having them facing criminal charges.
Corruption has obliterated academic standards inn order to keep under performing athletes in at school. Some athletes are given phantom courses which they easily complete making a mockery of the academic integrity. Why should normal students struggle to stay in school, while athletes are given the easy way out for just their athletic abilities. The schools emulating to be like the top 5 cofenrences should focus more on imitating the academic curriculum of Ivy League schools instead of digging themselves in a financial hole.
